From May 20th to 23rd, the 5th China Foundry Association Die Casting CEO Annual Meeting and Nonferrous Casting Lightweight Forum were held in Tianjin. The forum, with the theme of “Aluminum achieves excellent results, Magnesium has a bright future”, focuses on the innovative application of non-ferrous metal materials in the field of lightweighting, attracting hundreds of industry experts, corporate executives, and representatives from research institutions to attend. Ge Qiwei, the Product Line Director of Haitian Zhisheng Magnesium Alloy, was invited to share the theme of “Development and Application Prospects of Large Magnesium Alloy Injection Molding Equipment”, showcasing the breakthrough application of Haitian Zhisheng Magnesium Alloy Equipment in the field of lightweight, becoming the focus of the entire event.

Magnesium alloy, as a “21st century green engineering material”, has become a core material for lightweight applications in fields such as automobiles and 3C electronics due to its low density (only 64% of aluminum and 25% of steel), high specific strength, and excellent electromagnetic shielding performance. Starting from material selection, Ge Qiwei provided a clear and concise explanation of the process principles and equipment advantages. He proposed that semi-solid injection molding of magnesium alloys has many advantages such as high processing accuracy, energy saving, long mold life, and environmental protection. The industrial application of magnesium alloys will usher in explosive growth.

He introduced that the Haitian Die Casting HMG series magnesium alloy injection molding machine solves the problems of porosity and hot cracking that are prone to occur in traditional die-casting processes through semi-solid injection molding technology, and achieves high-precision integrated molding of complex structural parts. Taking HMG3600 as an example, its locking force reaches 36000KN, the maximum screw diameter reaches 180mm, the injection volume exceeds 19.2kg, and it is equipped with advanced injection dual servo real-time closed-loop control technology, which can meet the production needs of large-sized magnesium alloy components such as automotive CCB brackets and triple screen backboards.

In addition to common fields, magnesium alloys are also used in industries such as low altitude economy, humanoid robots, and 3C. At present, magnesium alloy injection molding technology can form ultra-thin shells with a minimum thickness of 0.4mm. The breakthrough of this technology and the advantage of magnesium alloy being one-third lighter than aluminum alloy will provide a more lightweight effect for laptops and enhance portability. In the recently released HarmonyOS laptops, magnesium alloy is applied to the body, which not only ensures fastening but also reduces the overall weight to 970g.

This forum has released a signal of the transformation of magnesium alloys from “niche materials” to “strategic resources”. It is believed that with the promotion of new quality productivity such as new energy vehicles, low altitude economy, and AI hardware, lightweight technology of magnesium alloys will become a key puzzle for “weight reduction and muscle gain” in Chinese manufacturing.

In the future, Haitian Zhisheng Metal will take technological innovation as the engine, continue to deepen the iterative upgrading of magnesium alloy forming technology, and provide a more competitive “Chinese solution” for the global lightweight transformation.
